Doula

Birth Doula

Services include the following:

  • 1 hour prenatal massage
  • 2-3 prenatal visits (topics covered typically include Anatomy + Physiology of labor and birth, what is labor + what to expect, common medical interventions, comfort measures during labor, creating a birth plan).  These visits are a chance for me to get to know you and your family, your hopes, dreams and fears about labor, and are an opportunity for us to build trust and establish our relationship.
  • 24-hour on-call availability once you are within your due window, starting at 37 completed weeks of pregnancy.
  • Attendance at your labor and birth through 1-2 hours postpartum (longer if there are complications or you are recovering from a cesarean section).
  • 1-2 postpartum visits during the first 6-weeks postpartum (these typically include breastfeeding support, teas or herbs for nourishment + healing, newborn care support, support for the transition into parenting, a chance to provide feedback about my care and an opportunity for us to bring closure to our working relationship).

Postpartum Doula

This is practical, hourly care.  I offer this in 3-hour increments during the first 6-8 weeks postpartum.  Typically, people plan for 1-3 times per week for 4-8 weeks after birth.  In-home massage can be added on to these visits for an additional fee.

Visits include things like:
Light cleaning + tidying up, holding the baby while you shower/nap/go for a walk, light meal preparation, breastfeeding support, laundry, dog-walking, errands, etc.  I do often bring herbal teas + baked goods with me to visits (I love baking!).  I can also include things like drawing up an herbal bath for you so you can soak and relax, sitz bath herbs for perineum healing, and general mama self-care techniques + recipes if that’s something you want!
